Advanced dancers get an opportunity to learn a variety of dance and choreography styles while having unique performance opportunities throughout the year.
Our Company offers our more committed students an opportunity to perform more, and to spend more time doing what they love while representing our studio in our community. In 2013 the Andover School of Ballet began its teen performance company under the direction of Tabitha (Liversidge) Rodger. The ASB Dance Co. dancers are selected by audition and must attend weekly classes in Ballet and other styles (Jazz, Modern, Lyrical, or Contemporary dance) in addition to weekly company class/rehearsal on Saturday afternoons. The company works with director, Tabitha, as well as other ASB faculty and guest choreographers and teachers. They are also given extra workshop and performance opportunities. The dancers may perform in any and all styles of dance depending on the choreographer, but most often in modern dance and jazz styles. ASBDC may perform 3-5 times per year. Annual performances usually include Andover Day, Andover Holiday Happenings, the Andover Firefighter's “Santa Parade”, Move 4 the Movement (benefit for American Cancer Society), and a shared youth dance company performance with our friend studio in Ipswich, MA. ASBDC is not a competitive company. At ASB we want to foster love for dance artistry and technique without the pressure, cost, and exclusivity of competitions. We believe that dance is an inclusive art form that should be fostered in people of differing abilities and dance backgrounds. We also desire to keep stress and cost for our dance families as reasonable as possible.
