Our adult classes offer an ongoing schedule with open registration – you may join at any time.
We have no specific dress code for adult classes, but ballet slippers should be purchased if you commit to attending a ballet class. Socks can be worn for one time to try the class. Women in Ballet class may wear the traditional Ballet class clothing of a leotard, tights, and ballet slippers, possibly with a ballet skirt,OR snug "work-out" clothing of leggings and a t-shirt is also fine. For Stretch & Strengthen class, the typical attire is "work-out" clothing of leggings or stretch pants with a t-shirt, and bare feet. For Men, typical work-out clothing of stretch pants or shorts and a t-shirt is fine for all classes. Long hair should be pulled back away from the face and dangling jewelry is discouraged.
Stretch & Strengthen is a dance/exercise class with an emphasis on developing flexibility and strength. It uses Dance-based, Pilates-based, and Yoga-based exercises, choreographed to music. The class includes standing exercises and floor exercises to strengthen and stretch the muscles, but no traveling combinations. No previous experience is necessary – class exercises can be easily modified to the individual’s own level. "Work-out" clothing of leggings, shorts, or stretch pants with a t-shirt and bare feet are usual. Long hair should be pulled back away from the face and dangling jewelry is discouraged.
Ballet classes, using traditional French ballet vocabulary, will follow the traditional class format of barre exercises, center floor exercises plus turning and traveling exercises. “Intermediate/Advanced” Ballet class is designed for participants with several years experience in ballet. "Elementary" Ballet class is a more basic level for those with less experience, or those returning to ballet class after some time away. “Open Level” Ballet class will be directed toward the experience level of the current participants. For women in Ballet class, traditional Ballet class clothing of a leotard, tights, and ballet slippers, with an optional ballet skirt, is fine, but snug "work-out" clothing of leggings and a t-shirt is also OK. For men, typical work-out clothing of stretch pants or shorts and a t-shirt is fine. Long hair should be pulled back away from the face and dangling jewelry is discouraged.
